Top Christmas Grottos and Santa Experiences in Kent

Looking for the most magical Christmas day out in Kent this year? The county has plenty of festive events for families, from grotto visits to seasonal trails and festive meals. With so much choice, it helps to know what makes a Santa experience truly special. Here is what to look for, and what your family can expect at Christmas at Bewl Water.

What to Look for in a Santa Experience

Every family is different, but a few questions can help you decide where to book:

• How personal is the Santa visit? Some visits are private to your family, while others are shared. A private, personalised meeting can make all the difference to a shy or excited child.
• Is there more to do than meet Santa? Workshops, shows and activities turn a short visit into a full festive day out.
• How long will you be there? Check how much time to allow so you can plan travel, meals and naps.
• Is it suitable for your children's ages? Look at the recommended age range and the ticket options for babies and older children.
• What is under cover? December weather in Kent can be unpredictable, so check what is indoors and what to wear.
• What is included and what costs extra? Read the ticket details carefully before you book.

Christmas at Bewl Water

Our 2026 experience, Santa's Quest, takes place in an enchanted woodland setting at Bewl Water, near Lamberhurst on the Kent and Sussex border. Santa and his elves need your family's help to restore Christmas cheer, and as Cheer Champions you become part of a living festive story, with live performances and playful panto-style moments along the way.

Highlights include:

• A private, personalised family visit with Santa, tailored with your child's name, age and interests
• Choosing a gift from the Toy Exchange
• Decorating shortbread biscuits in Rosemary's Bakery
• Building and decorating a sleigh ornament in the Elves' Workshop
• Making reindeer food at Prancer's Pantry
• Sending your wishes to Santa from Dash's Post Office
• Interactive live performances from Santa's merry elves
• The Candy Land Food Court and play frame, with street food and hot drinks available to buy

The Quest itself lasts just under two hours, and we recommend allowing around three hours for the full experience. Most of it is under cover, although some areas are outdoors, so wrap up warm. We recommend the experience for children aged 1 to 11, and My First Christmas tickets are available for babies under one.

Choose Your Adventure

There are two ways to step inside the story. The Grotto & Quest Experience is our signature Christmas adventure. The Mrs Claus Enhanced Experience adds a private meet-and-greet with Mrs Claus, a complimentary souvenir photo from your Santa visit, priority access to workshops and performances, an exclusive lanyard and extra goodies, including a souvenir Santa Key.

Visiting with a bigger group? Each Santa visit welcomes up to eight guests, and Cheer Champions booking in groups of six or more receive 10% off their booking.

Plan Your Christmas in Kent

Whichever festive events you choose this December, booking ahead makes planning easier. Christmas at Bewl Water runs on selected dates from 28 November to 24 December 2026, and all tickets are booked online in advance, with one free parking ticket included per booking.
