Making the Most of Your Santa Experience This Christmas
For families searching for a magical Santa experience in Kent, Christmas at Bewl Water offers much more than a traditional grotto visit. Our 2026 experience, Santa's Quest, is set in an enchanted woodland at Bewl Water and invites your family to step inside a living festive story. Here is how to make the most of every moment.
Arrive on Time for Your Booking
The magic begins the moment you arrive. Please arrive five minutes before your booked timeslot. Every group enjoys a personalised experience, so late arrivals may be refused entry or miss parts of the Quest. Allow plenty of time for your journey: we are near Lamberhurst on the Kent and Sussex border, just off the A21.
Remember that one free parking ticket is included per booking. ANPR is in operation, so make sure the vehicle registration you give is correct.
Take Part in Every Stop of the Quest
Santa and his elves need your family's help to restore Christmas cheer at Bewl Water. As Cheer Champions, you will be guided through live performances, playful panto-style moments and magical encounters. To enjoy the full adventure, get stuck in at every stop:
- Rosemary's Bakery: decorate your own shortbread biscuits to take home, or eat straight away. The biscuits and decorations are vegan, dairy-free and nut-free, with a gluten-free option available.
- The Elves' Workshop: build and decorate your own sleigh ornament.
- Prancer's Pantry: make reindeer food to sprinkle on Christmas Eve, guiding Santa's reindeer on their journey.
- Dash's Post Office: step inside Postmaster Elf Dash's post office and send your wishes to Santa.
- Live performances: laughter, cheer chants and storytelling brought to life by Santa's merry elves.
- The Toy Exchange: where each child chooses a gift from Santa.
Families who choose the Mrs Claus Enhanced Experience also enjoy priority access to workshops and performances, plus a private meet-and-greet with Mrs Claus in our enchanted woodland.
Share a Little About Your Child When You Book
A private family visit with Santa is the heart of the day. When booking, you can share your child's name, age and a little about their hobbies and interests, so the meeting feels truly personal. Keep the details short and accurate, and if there is anything sensitive you would like Santa to know, such as an illness or bereavement, email christmas@bewlwater.co.uk before your visit.
Capture the Moment
The experience is filled with beautifully designed photo opportunities, so have your camera ready. Official photographs are taken during the Grotto visit and are available to purchase immediately afterwards. Please collect any photos before you leave, as they cannot be posted. Families on the Mrs Claus Enhanced Experience receive a complimentary souvenir photo from their Santa visit.
Stay and Play
The Quest itself lasts just under two hours. Afterwards, the free-flow area is yours to eat, play, explore and shop, and we recommend allowing around three hours for the whole experience. Little ones can keep the festive fun going on the Candy Land play frame while grown-ups take a breather.
Warm Up With Seasonal Treats
A Christmas day out would not be complete without something delicious. There are areas to buy refreshments throughout the Quest, and the Candy Land Food Court serves street food, mulled wine, cider and speciality hot drinks. Gluten-free, dairy-free, vegetarian and vegan options are available on request. We are a cashless event, so bring a debit or credit card.
Dress for the Woodland
Most of the experience is under cover, but some areas are outdoors, not all covered sections are heated and paths can be muddy. Wrap up warm, wear sturdy footwear, and feel free to come in your best Christmas outfits.
Make Memories That Last Beyond Christmas Day
Christmas at Bewl Water blends theatre, adventure and heart, so children can step into a story and feel the magic of Christmas come alive. By exploring every stop of the Quest and taking time to enjoy the atmosphere, you can create a festive tradition your family will treasure.
