More Than a Santa's Grotto: Why Kent Families Love Christmas at Bewl Water
There is magic in the air at Bewl Water this Christmas. Far more than a Santa's Grotto, Christmas at Bewl Water invites families to step into an enchanting world of storytelling, adventure and hands-on festive fun, set in an enchanted woodland near Lamberhurst on the Kent and Sussex border.
A Christmas Adventure Like No Other
Our 2026 experience, Santa's Quest, is a living festive story. Santa and his elves need your family's help to restore Christmas cheer at Bewl Water, and as Cheer Champions you will be guided through live performances, playful panto-style moments and magical encounters.
Along the way, your family will visit:
- Rosemary's Bakery: where children decorate their own shortbread biscuits
- Dash's Post Office: where Postmaster Elf Dash helps send your wishes to Santa
- Prancer's Pantry: where little hands make reindeer food ready for Christmas Eve
- The Elves' Workshop: where children build and decorate their own sleigh ornaments to take home
Santa's merry elves bring the story to life with laughter, cheer chants and audience participation, so the whole family becomes part of the adventure.
Meet Santa, the Bewl Water Way
Of course, no Christmas adventure would be complete without the big man himself. At Bewl Water, meeting Santa is a private family visit rather than a quick photo opportunity.
When you book, you share your child's name, age and a little about their hobbies and interests, so the meeting feels personal and truly memorable. Afterwards, each child chooses their Christmas gift from the Toy Exchange.
For an even more magical day, the Mrs Claus Enhanced Experience adds a private meet-and-greet with Mrs Claus in our enchanted woodland, a complimentary souvenir photo from your Santa visit, priority access to workshops and performances, an exclusive lanyard and extra goodies, including a souvenir Santa Key.
Time to Play and Refuel
When the Quest is over, the Candy Land Food Court is a free-flow space with street food, mulled wine, cider and speciality hot drinks to buy, while little ones enjoy the Candy Land play frame. We recommend allowing around three hours for the full experience, and you are welcome to stay and play as long as you wish.
A Kent Christmas Tradition
Every detail has been designed to transport families into a winter world full of warmth, whimsy and cheer. Alongside returning favourites, 2026 brings a brand-new quest, with more festive surprises still to be revealed. Whether it is your first visit or you are returning, there is something new to discover.
