A Parent's Guide to Festive Family Days Out in Kent: Christmas at Bewl Water
When the nights draw in and fairy lights start to twinkle, families begin searching for Christmas days out in Kent that feel truly special. If you are looking for a festive adventure near Tunbridge Wells, Christmas at Bewl Water is waiting for you.
Bewl Water sits near Lamberhurst, on the Kent and Sussex border, just off the A21. On selected dates from 28 November to 24 December 2026, our enchanted woodland becomes home to Santa's Quest, where festive memories are made, laughter fills the air and Santa's elves are ready to welcome your family into the story.
Why Choose Christmas at Bewl Water?
This is more than a quick grotto visit. Santa's Quest is an immersive Christmas adventure packed with interactive festive activities, and we recommend allowing around three hours for the full experience. Families step into a living festive story that weaves together live performances, hands-on workshops and a personalised visit to Santa.
Our experience is designed for believers of all ages, and we recommend it for children aged 1 to 11.
Highlights Include
A personal visit to Santa: more than just a quick hello, your visit to Santa's Grotto is private to your family's booking. Share your child's name, age and hobbies when you book, so Santa can make the moment truly personal.
Hands-on festive workshops: from decorating shortbread biscuits in Rosemary's Bakery to making reindeer food in Prancer's Pantry, sending wishes to Santa from Dash's Post Office and building a sleigh ornament in the Elves' Workshop, children get fully involved in every part of the Quest.
Live interactive performances: Santa's merry elves bring the story to life with laughter, cheer chants and playful panto-style moments, so your family becomes part of the adventure.
The Toy Exchange: children with a Child ticket receive a token during their Santa visit, then redeem it at the Toy Exchange for their Christmas gift from Santa.
Candy Land Food Court and play area: when the Quest is over, refuel in our free-flow space, where street food, mulled wine, cider and speciality hot drinks are available to buy, while little ones enjoy the Candy Land play frame.
Parent Tips for a Stress-Free Visit
Planning a family Christmas day out in Kent takes a little organisation, so here are a few things to keep in mind:
- Book ahead: tickets must be booked online in advance. Groups of six or more receive 10% off their booking.
- Arrive on time: please arrive five minutes before your booked timeslot. Every group enjoys a personalised experience, so late arrivals may miss parts of the Quest.
- Sort your parking: one free parking ticket is included per booking. Add it at checkout and double-check your vehicle registration, as ANPR is in operation.
- Dress warmly: most of the experience is under cover, but there are outdoor sections, not every covered area is heated, and woodland paths can be muddy. Cosy coats and sturdy footwear are a must, and Christmas outfits are very welcome.
- Travel light: there is nowhere to store pushchairs, luggage or large bags, so keep hands free for little ones.
- Leave the picnic at home: food and drink cannot be brought in, apart from bottled water. Refreshments are available to buy throughout, and we are a cashless event.
- Capture the magic: there are beautifully designed photo moments throughout, so charge your phone before you set off. Official Grotto photographs are also available to buy after your Santa visit.
- Ask us first: if your family has access or additional needs, email christmas@bewlwater.co.uk before booking and we will do our best to help.
