At the heart of our enchanted woodland, close to Tunbridge Wells, and overlooking the South East’s largest reservoir in Lamberhurst, Christmas at Bewl Water sparkled with festive cheer as it was transformed into a wonderland experience right in the heart of our ancient forest.
Nestled in the picturesque countryside of Kent and bordering the county of Sussex, visitors were taken on an immersive and unforgettable journey through an imaginative wonderland for all the family, making for an unforgettable Christmas day out.
A Christmas day out to remember
Christmas at Bewl Water took families on an adventure full of activities, Christmas crafts, magical photo opportunities, and engaging festive fun like live storytelling performances, concluding their journey with a personalised visit to Santa’s grotto.
As families embarked on their Christmas adventure at Bewl Water, each child was given a passport provided by Santa Claus to have filled out with special stamps from helpful and cheeky elves at each stop along the journey. With twists and turns through Fairytale Land and a beautiful woodland which came to life, families were led into different workshops to get stuck in a range of exciting activities for all.
Christmas activities
Christmas at Bewl Water was buzzing with exciting activities for the whole family. From writing heartfelt letters to Father Christmas with all their Christmas wishes to decorating ornaments for the tree. And who could forget icing delicious gingerbread in Mrs Claus’ Bakery and the playful fun of making reindeer food ready to take home for Christmas Eve. There really was something magical for everyone to enjoy.
Santa’s Workshop
A treasure trove awaited children in Santa’s workshop. Each child took their seat at the crafting tables where supplies were provided to create sparkly keepsakes to decorate their trees back home. Santa’s elves were on hand to navigate the glitter, jewels, and ribbons, and families enjoyed the festive fun all together.
Mrs Claus’ Bakery
As the sweet scent of gingerbread wafted through the air, children were given another opportunity to gain a stamp on their Christmas passport at this special visit to Christmas at Bewl Water. The elves loved interacting with families as they decorated their very own gingerbread cookies with colourful icing and sprinkles, some even tucked into their creations before leaving the table!
Don’t forget the reindeer food
As the anticipation of visiting Father Christmas in his grotto grew, families were given the opportunity to create their own bags of reindeer food at the pick-n-mix craft table with elves on hand to tie up their take-home creations. As children mixed reindeer friendly treats, they knew that Rudolph and his friends wouldn’t go hungry as they prepared to navigate the night sky and deliver presents all around the world.
Winter Warmers at Market Square
Christmas at Bewl Water was full of holiday hustle and bustle and at the heart of it all was the chance for families to unwind in the cosy atmosphere of Market Square where Bewl Water’s Rangers were on hand to serve steaming hot chocolate, coffee, mulled wine, and delicious snacks. Other sweet treats were also available from Candy Land’s sweet shop including marshmallows to toast on Ranger Bear’s warming firepit.
Santa’s Grotto
A magical and festive event would not be complete without a visit to see Father Christmas in his grotto, and Christmas at Bewl Water is no exception. From our opening day where we invited local charities and their families to enjoy a heartwarming day out, to the moment Santa met the last visiting children on Christmas Eve, the grotto encapsulated the wonder and joy of the season. It was pure magic to see the look on the children’s faces as Father Christmas made personal notes of all their Christmas
wishes.
